How To Battle Constipation With High-Fiber Foods

Fruits To Help ConstipationMany of Americans do not eat fruits or vegetables on a daily basis. With the ease and convenience of modern life, fast food has become the norm. No one really talks too much about going, until you haven't gone. Here are three tips to help keep things running smoothly.

Fruits

Choose raw fruits that currently like to eat. Eat one to two pieces of fresh fruit or vegetables with every meal and snack. Choose fruits that are easy to take with you, on the go. An apples, berries, oranges, or pears are great portable snack options. Or you can bring the fruit along with you in insulated containers. Chopped melon is wonderful on a hot spring day as a snack. Instead of going to the drive thru while you are out. Purchase in season chopped fruit from convenience stores, delis, or at grocery stores in the freezer section.

Vegetables

Do not be tempted to eat a tasteless salad or snack. Add deep green and crunchy vegetables to wake up, the blandest of salads. Try different greens like kale, red cabbage, and herbs. Pick raw vegetables over cooked ones, as side items. Aim to have many different colors and textures in your salad mix. Try different types of salad greens. High fiber cooked vegetables to consider eating are peas, lentils, black beans, collard or mustard greens, potatoes,

Sliced veggies and harder fruits are tasty with a dip as a snack. The crunch and crispness can be enjoyed just like potato chips. Choose hummus, ranch dressing, honey mustard, or any dip that you currently enjoy. There are ready made fruit and vegetable dips available in the freezer of the produce section in the grocery store.

Tasteless fiber supplements

Adding a tasteless fiber supplement to your drink or food can help you stay regular. Meals that you know do not hold much nutritional value are a great place to start. You can place these supplements in your coffee, tea, fruit juice, or water. Benefiber is a great product to try. The supplement is tasteless, grit less, and does not thicken when stirred. This product can also be used in cooking and beverages.

When you are feeling sluggish and begin to gain a few pounds, think about your diet. Take note of how often you are eliminating. If you are not going at least once a day, incorporate these tips above into your day. A healthy diet, water, and a few minutes daily exercise can help keep your colon healthy.
