Food To Eat When Constipated
Worst Foods To Eat When You're Sick
When I first started writing articles about health and wellness, I wrote a piece about the best foods to eat when you are ill. I forgot to mention anything about what foods you should NOT eat when you are sick. Below
No.1 - Caffeine: I realize caffeine isn't actually a "food" but it is in a lot of the things we consume on a daily basis. Caffeine is not good for the stomach to start with. It is good for certain things, like keeping tired people alert, but it is not something you want to consume when you are sick. The reason 7 UP is the most desired drink when people are feeling sick is because it is caffeine free. Drinks that settle the stomach are the best ones to go with when you're ill.
No.2 - Dairy Products: Dairy products will often worsen the symptoms that come with being ill. If you choose to eat cheese while you are sick, you may become constipated, and if you choose to drink milk, you may begin having diarrhea. It is smart to disregard dairy products when you are sick.
No.3 - Tomatoes: Vegetables and fruits are good for the most part when you are sick, but a tomato is something you will want to stay away from. Tomatoes are extremely acidic, like most fruits, but it seems to have a worse effect on upset stomachs. Tomatoes do contain many valuable nutrients, however, so the effect varies from person to person. Instead of testing it out I would just stay away from this vegetable/fruit when you are ill.
No.4 - Mexican food: Mexican food is known primarily for being spicy. The stomach has a hard time dealing with spicy foods when people aren't sick, so it is not a good idea to eat it when you are sick. Eating spicy Mexican food will most likely worsen all of your conditions.
No.5 - Meat: It is best to avoid taking in a lot of protein when you are ill. The body has to use a lot of energy to properly digest protein and it needs all of the energy it can muster to fight off infections. Meat isn't the worst thing you can eat when you're sick, but it would be smarter to stay away from this food when you're under the weather.
