Home Remedies For Constipation

Food Constipation Constipation is a common yet uncomfortable experience that millions of people suffer with daily when food is not easily digested. This results in constipation which is described as three consecutive days without experiencing a bowel movement. The results are a heavy, uneasy feeling, abdominal pain and cramps, and sticky or no stools.

What makes food hard to digest, resulting in constipation? There are several factors: stress, irregular meal times, diets with oily or spicy foods, anger, fear, depression, climatic changes, and eating food that is unhygienic.

In your local pharmacy, you can most likely find a few over the counter remedies. However, if you want to try something more natural on the body that has few to no side effects and won't further aggravate the situation, try a home remedy.

Here are my top home remedy recommendations:

1. Slice a lemon and leave it out overnight. In the morning extract juice from the lemon
and drink it.

2. Drinking fresh squeezed orange juice every morning with your breakfast will treat constipation and get rid of any wastes.

3. Apple a day CAN keep the doctor away! Eat an apple, without slicing it, daily if your stomach is prone to constipation. In just a few days, you will feel much better!

4. To prevent constipation boil a glass of water. When completely cooled, add a spoonful of honey and stir. Best to drink at bedtime.

5. A salad made of tomatoes and leaves from beetroot tree can help alleviate constipation symptoms. This simple and quick salad is best to eat when you are already constipated and cannot fully digest a meal. It will fill you up and relive the symptoms of constipation. Other helpful veggies and fruits you can add that are also known to help are coconuts, carrots, beets, radishes, celery, spinach, and of course, prunes.

6. Grapes! This has helped my 3 year old out! Grapes can be eaten by themselves or for a more effective method, put the grapes in a glass of milk. Let them soak, and before bed, drink milk, and then eat grapes. By morning your constipation problems should have disappeared.

7. Castor Oil has long been praised as a remedy for constipation. However, precaution should be taken. Please follow exact directions on bottle prior to consuming.

8. For Babies, and please check with your doctor first, try adding a tsp of Karo syrup to the baby's formula (6-8 oz) or .5 tsp for 4oz.

9. For children, fiber filled muffins, such as Bran muffins, can safely be eaten daily and are fun to bake together! This is also a great relief for pregnant women and adults.

10. And finally walking! Nothing more natural than walking about outdoors! This great exercise done for 20 minutes a day can greatly alleviate constipation while you get your daily recommended amount of exercise time in. This is also a healthy alternative for pregnant women.

As with any advice given regarding a medical condition, please consult with your doctor before trying any of the recommended tips. With a healthy combination of a low in oil, heavy in fruits and veggies, fiber enriched diet, and healthy exercise, you will soon be one your way to a healthy digestive system. But on its off days, treat your body with a natural remedy!

Could my symptoms possibly be celiac disease? Please answer?
I am 26 yrs old and I've been dealing with stomach/digestive issues since I was little. A little over a year ago I started having acid reflux problems so my doctor prescribed Prevacid. About a month ago I went to see a gastroenterologist because my acid reflux and digestive issues weren't getting any better. The gastroenterologist did a EGD procedure and a biopsy and he told me that I have Barrett's Esophagus. I'm considering getting a second opinion because there has been speculation that the gastroenterologist that I went to has misdiagnosed alot of patients. I've been looking at some info online about celiac disease and I'm starting to think that I have celiac disease because my symptoms fit. My first question is can barrett's esophagus be misdiagnosed? Could celiac disease be mistaken as barrett's esophagus? These are my symptoms: First of all I want to start off with a family history. My dad died of a heart attack (he was 69 when he died). He had lots of health problems. He also had diabetes. Diabetes runs in both my mom's family and my dad's side of the family. abdominal pain after eating certain foods bone/joint pain (I've been dealing with this since I was 12 yrs old) fatigue/lack of energy (this usually happens 1 or 2 days a week) pain in lower right abdomen after eating certain foods constipation (usually happens if I consume milk products) bloating (usually happens after eating certain foods. Then my stomach will make a weird sounding noise) nausea (usually happens if I eat certain cereals, pastas, bread, milk) nosebleeds lactose intolerance My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 2 yrs now and we haven't had any luck. Do these symptoms sound like celiac disease? Considering everything that I've read I plan on starting a gluten free diet starting today.

Am I having PMS or Pregnancy symptoms?
I don't know if im pregnant or not. I am having the same symptoms as being pregnant and having symptoms about to start my pms. Symptoms im having: Boobs are swollen and tender. Im tired all the time. Food Cravings or Aversions to Foods, Constipation. Mood Swings and Irritability. Low Back Pain. Bloating and maybe weight gain. Im very emotional. Slight cramps(once a while). And my nipples have gotten really dark and the area around my nipples have gotten a little darker. My period starts anywhere from 26days-31days. Today would be 29days. For a whole week last week I didn't use any protection. He pulled out every time, but he did pre-cum in me(normal). We had sex 3 times in a row sometimes. I know that some cum could have stayed in his penis and the pre-cum could have gotten it out. So he could have gotten cum in me without us knowing. So the thing is... Im having symptoms of PMS and maybe pregnancy symptoms. I don't know if im pregnant or not. Its only been a few days since we last stopped having sex. And I should have started/starting my period. If you can please tell me what you think is going on with me. Im going to wait to take a pregnancy test till sunday unless I start my period. Thanks!

Weird symptoms: nausea, late period, fatigue, indigestion. Is something wrong?
I'm kind of freaking out, I haven't gotten my period (1 week late) and I've been really nauseous after almost everytime that I eat, and I sleep a lot in the afternoons now. And I've also had problems digesting food (constipation, green colored poop). Is something wrong? Someone told me it could be stress/depression. I haven't really be depressed, but I have been very stressed lately. Should I see a doctor about this or wait for the symptoms to either leave/get worse? Thanks for any advice/help :) Not pregnant - already took 5 tests that were negative
