Foods That Help Reduce Fibroids

Constipation Foods That Help The classic symptoms of fibroids are enlargement of the abdomen, frequency in urination, heavy bleeding, painful intercourse, pelvic fullness, and lower back pain. Complications may arise due to fibroids, especially during labor. While there are medical and surgical options that are available to get rid of fibroids, there are foods that help reduce fibroids as well.

According to the studies conducted by the US Department of Health and Human Services, consumption of red meat and ham may be associated with increased incidence of fibroids. The consumption of red meat might increase the exposure to xenoestrogens that are stored in the fatty tissue. This can alter the natural hormone levels present in the body and thereby increase the risk of fibroids.

The other foods that help reduce fibroids are green leafy vegetables. There seems to be some evidence to substantiate the claim that consumption of green leafy vegetables may offer protection in women and prevent the development of fibroids.

Eating a balanced diet coupled with regular exercise and keeping the weight under check are all important factors to maintain good health. Increased body weight as well as fat percentage will lead to increased levels of estrogen. This may actually trigger the growth of fibroids.

Some of the other foods that help reduce fibroids are foods that have anti-inflammatory properties like rosemary, oats, cumin, hops and many more. These foods have the potential to shrink fibroids as well as prevent the formation of new ones.

Check for any hormonal imbalances by getting blood tests done at periodic intervals. Hormonal imbalances are also responsible for fibroids. Ensure that there are no nutritional deficiencies as this can worsen the situation. If any deficiencies are noticed in the reports, talk to your physician and take supplements.

Whole grains, fruits, bran are all essential foods that help reduce fibroids. Ensure you include them in your daily diet and increase the fluid intake. Hemorrhoids and constipation are associated with fibroids and hence these dietary changes will help to a large extent.

cat constipation -- foods that help?
My cat has had problems with constipation off and on throughout her life. We've seen the vet about this, when it gets particularly bad. Often, our cat will need an enema, because things get too "firm" inside her. She hates that, and we hate having to put her through it (and also having to pay for it!). Our vet has told us to give her a little MiraLax (1/8 tsp) in her wet food every few days, just to keep her stool soft and moving. Generally, that works fine, but over the last couple of days, that hasn't been doing the trick. I'm wondering if anyone knows any other foods that act as a laxative...something we can buy at a pet store, rather than the vet's office. Without being gross, we all know that there are certain foods that just go right through us, as people. Do you know any similar foods for cats? (We probably will take her to the vet if she doesn't have a bowel movement in the next couple of days...but we're just trying to find a way to avoid that expense, if possible). Thanks for any advice! Thanks for the replies -- I appreciate your thought. I think I'm going to just take her to the vet, though. She has been tested previously for mega colon, and that came up negative, so that's good. And prior to the miralax, she was actually on lactulose, but the vet switched her over. Maybe we'll have to go back. :-( Thanks again, everybody.
