Well no need to get stressed out, as constipation is an occurrence to almost everybody who has faced it more than once in their lifetime. To solve the problem you must understand why it is occurring. There are many reasons that culminate to constipation. They include not eating on time and not eating the right food. Junk food always has a great hand in it. So stop eating it with immediate effect. No roadside yummies too. You have to eat fully cooked food made in hygienic conditions. If you are a heavy non-veg eater, give it up for some time because the germs in the food also lead to constipation. Raw foods like salads and charcoal grilled corn also add to the pain. Now take a look at your lifestyle too.

Causes of Constipation
One of the primary causes of constipation is a bad diet. For example, consuming foods which are low in essential vitamins and minerals, not drinking enough water during the day, and drinking excessive amounts of coffee or tea commonly leads to improper bowel movements.

As we age, our bodies produce less and start to lag behind in the manufacture of digestive acids such as hydrochloric acid, pepsin, and digestive enzymes. This natural slow-down is also a leading cause of constipation. A proper diet and regular exercise can help reduce the chances of chronic constipation.

Home Remedies for Constipation
1. Drink 1/2 tsp honey in 1/2 cup warm water 2-3 times a day to cure constipation.
2. Liquorice (mulathi) is a natural laxative. Chew a few sticks daily.
3. Take 3 tsp of psyllium husk (Sat Isabgol) in milk or warm water at bed time. This will give you great relief and over a period of time, it will cure your constipation. Metamucil is nothing but psyllium husk, finely powdered and flavored.
4. Soak one date overnight in half a cup of water. Next morning mash the date and drain the water. Drink 1 teaspoon of this water four times a day.
5. Mix 1/2 cup olive oil with 1/2 cup orange juice and drink to cure constipation.
6. Put some curry leaves (curry patta) in hot water for a few minutes and then take out. Mix them with honey and eat.
7. Eat at least 350 g of grapes daily. The combination of the properties of cellulose, sugar and organic acid in grapes makes it a laxative food. Eating grapes tones up the stomach and intestines and relieves the most chronic constipation. When fresh grapes are not available, raisins soaked in water can be used. Diabetic people should not use grape therapy.
8. Put Senna pods (6 to 12 for adults and 3 to 6 for children) in water and drink this tea.
9. Bale fruit is the best natural laxative.
10. Drink 1 Tbsp of corn syrup added to 4 glasses of water.
